Louis Sacher is an American author known for the Wayside School book series and the famous novel Which. In this review, we will focus on his other masterpiece, Holes.

Why is the novel called Holes?

Holes is a novel about Stanley and Zero, two kids who are sent away to a correction camp in a Texas desert. One day Stanley and Zero run away to the desert and take refuge in a mountain where there is a beautiful spring and onions and when they come back they dig up some treasure.

This story is based on racism and how black people were mistreated for example in the book Sam the Onion man gets shot because he kissed a white woman. back then if you did that, you would be breaking the law. After Sam gets shot by the locals the whole lake dries up.

I like this book because it tells you about the past, and the present, and how it connects to camp green lake.

This book is one of my favorite books. A quote from Holes is life is not easy. A book like this is called Once. You can check it out on my website. once and Holes are similar because Stanley runs away and Felix runs away. I will post it soon on my website.
